Chevening
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) is running its Chevening Fellowships scheme for the fifth successive year.
Chevening Fellowships (which complement the longstanding Chevening Scholarships scheme) were introduced in 2005. The Fellowships comprise short (12-week) courses at British universities that focus on particular subjects aligned to the UK's strategic international priorities.
The Chevening Fellowships are aimed at mid-career professionals with at least 4 years experience who are in positions of leadership and influence (or are in line for such positions) and are active in the field of Fellowship subject. The programmes are designed as dynamic, training and professional development opportunities in the UK. Programme content is of a high quality with contributions from leading academics and experts in the field. Tunisia has had seven Chevening Fellows between 2006 and 2009. The Embassy is now taking nominations for 2010.
Courses run for 12 weeks from January-April 2010. All expenses are paid for by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. Selection is very competitive and is at the discretion of a selection panel in London.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London (www.fco.gov.uk) is seeking young, talented Tunisians (aged 25-35), to participate in its 2009/10 Chevening Scholarship programme. Chevening provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend a full academic year at a British university, return home with a Masters qualification and gain a better appreciation of British life and culture. Chevening is designed for high-calibre candidates who display the most potential to be the future leaders and decision-makers of their country. Candidates must:
- Be a graduate with proven academic skills;
- Have good English language skills, both oral and written;
- Have a proven track record of success or excellence in their professional life, something that distinguishes them from their peers and contemporaries;
- Be able to show at interview that they possess the personal qualities to benefit from their scholarship and use it to succeed in their chosen career;
- Be committed to return to Tunisia and contribute to the socio-economic development of Tunisia through implementing new skills and knowledge acquired in the UK.
If you feel you meet these criteria we would be very happy to hear from you.
